The VIN Cube 4x4 V2 Sprint is the simplest version of the second generation of VIN Cube’s 4x4. VIN Cube is a brand that grew out of YJ’s circle, and its first 4x4 was based on the YJ MGC. The V2 series has three versions (Sprint, Surge and Apex) that share the same size and weight and differ in the number and placement of their magnets.

How it works

The 96 magnets follow a linear layout in the edges and corners and help each layer stop in alignment at the end of a turn. Unlike the Surge and Apex versions, the Sprint has no magnets between the corners and the core, so the settling is less pronounced. On a 4x4, where both outer and inner layers move, that help reduces the misalignments that cause lock-ups.

Design

It’s stickerless (no stickers: the colour is in the plastic itself), with a matt (frosted) surface that gives good grip and shows few fingerprints. It measures 58 mm, slightly less than the usual 60 mm for a 4x4, which makes it easier to hold in small or medium hands. It features an anti-pop design (to stop pieces jumping out when a turn is forced), “fishtail” pieces to prevent catching and widened outer layers for better control.

What level is it for?

It suits anyone who already solves the 4x4 and wants a compact magnetic cube from the V2 series without moving up to the versions with core magnets.
