This QiYi pack (known in China as QiYi MoFangGe) brings together four alternatives to the 3x3 cube: Megaminx, Pyraminx, Skewb and Ivy Cube. It’s the black-bodied version with coloured stickers, without magnets.

What’s included

The Megaminx is a dodecahedron with twelve pentagonal faces, solved with logic similar to the 3x3 but longer. The Pyraminx is a four-sided pyramid with tips that turn on their own. The Skewb is cube-shaped and turns around four axes that run through its corners, so each turn moves half the puzzle. The Ivy Cube also turns around its corners, and its faces are divided by leaf-shaped curves (hence its name).

Competition and learning

Megaminx, Pyraminx and Skewb are official events of the WCA, the association that organises speedcubing competitions. The Ivy Cube isn’t, but it’s often one of the first puzzles people solve unaided, because it has very few pieces. A black body with stickers is the classic finish; with heavy use the stickers can wear, which doesn’t happen with stickerless models.
