The cubes

The cubes are the M (magnetic) versions of the MeiLong series, MoYu’s budget range sold under the MFJS (MoFang JiaoShi) brand. They come with factory-fitted magnets, which pull the pieces so that each layer stops in alignment at the end of a turn, and they’re stickerless: there are no stickers, the colour is in the plastic itself. As they all belong to the same series, the feel is similar across sizes, which makes it easier to switch from one to another.

Timer and mat

The timer works like competition ones: you rest your hands on the sensors, the time starts when you lift them and stops when you put them back down. The mat has a holder for the timer and provides a soft surface to put the cube down on. The guide goes through the solution for each of the four cubes.

Which level

It suits anyone who wants to get into speedcubing with everything at once, without buying cubes and a timer separately, and anyone who can already solve the 3x3 and wants to practise in conditions similar to a competition. The MeiLong M cubes are entry-level: they’re fine for learning and training, and later on you can move up to high-end models.
