The QiYi Crazy Gear Cube is a variant of the gear cube with a mechanism of its own. From the outside it looks like a black-bodied 3x3 with coloured tiles, but inside it has two inner gears where the classic Gear Cube has one, and that completely changes the way you solve it.

How it works
In gear puzzles, turning a layer drags other pieces along at the same time, linked by visible toothed wheels. On the Crazy Gear these knock-on movements are more complex than on the Gear Cube: those who have solved it agree that the algorithms are not difficult, but keeping your orientation and lining up the layers is.
Materials
Instead of stickers it has coloured plastic tiles fitted onto the black body, which stand up better to use. It feels solid and turns smoothly.
