In the Crazy Gear Cube the layers are connected by visible gears: when you turn a face, the toothed wheels drag the middle pieces along too. This completely changes the solving logic compared with a normal 3x3, because you cannot move one layer without considering what it drags with it.
It is one of those puzzles you enjoy twice: for the challenge and for the pleasure of watching the mechanism work. A striking piece for any collection and a good way out of the classic cube routine.
