The 3x3 Magic Clock M is the scaled-down version of ShengShou’s (SengSo) series of magnetic clocks. Instead of the nine clocks per side of the classic Clock, it has six dials and three pins per side, driven by three wheels on the edge, which makes it the simplest model in the family.

How it works

Like every Clock, it is a two-sided puzzle. The pins, which can be pushed up or down, determine which clocks move together when you turn a wheel, and the aim is to get all the hands pointing to twelve on both sides. The magnets make each hand settle with a click at every hour position, which helps you avoid overshooting.

Design

The casing is transparent and shows the coloured plate with the dials. At about 85 g it is smaller and lighter than the same brand’s standard Clock, and it forms a series with the nine-clock and eleven-clock versions.

What level it suits

The WCA Clock event uses the nine-clock, four-pin format, so this model cannot be used in competition. It works as a first introduction to the logic of the clocks, as a challenge for younger solvers or as a collector’s piece.
