Description
The Spring is a metal puzzle in Professor Puzzle’s Matchbox Puzzle series, from the British puzzle brand. It consists of just two pieces: a metal spring and a ring around it. The task is simple to state, get the ring off the spring, and the difficulty lies in doing it without bending or forcing either piece.

How it works
It belongs to the disentanglement family, in which the pieces are interlinked without clasps or mechanisms and only come apart with the correct sequence. Having a spring as one of the pieces sets it apart from rigid wire puzzles: the piece has many coils, and the ring seems as though it could slip out anywhere until you actually try.
Once it is off, putting the ring back is the second challenge, just as interesting as the first.

It comes in the matchbox-style box shared by the whole series. Nine more matchstick challenges are printed on the sides of the box.
