The magnetic construction is reinforced in this version with magnets in the pieces plus corner-to-core magnets, a scheme known as ball-core on today's scene. This extra magnet layer helps the corners find their position during broad rotations and compensates for the misalignment a 4x4 typically suffers when turned quickly. The result is a firmer cube between moves, with fewer manual corrections.

The internal design incorporates an anti-pop configuration meant to reduce the chance of pieces popping out during a forced turn, one of the most frustrating problems on a 4x4. The exterior pieces use a fish-tail non-stick contour and the outer layers are slightly wider than usual, aiming to give the fingers more usable surface.
