The cubes

The cubes are the M (magnetic) versions of the MeiLong series, MoYu’s budget range sold under the MFJS (MoFang JiaoShi) brand. They come with factory-fitted magnets, which pull the pieces so that each layer stops in alignment at the end of a turn, and they’re stickerless: there are no stickers, the colour is in the plastic itself.

Four sizes, one feel

The 2x2 has only corners and is good for practising short cases; the 3x3 is the foundation of everything; the 4x4 introduces reduction (grouping the centres and pairing the edges so it can be solved like a 3x3) and the 5x5 extends that same idea. As they all belong to the same series, the turning feel is similar, making it easier to move from one size to another. On the bigger cubes, the magnets help keep the layers from ending up misaligned.

Which level

It suits anyone getting started in speedcubing who wants all four sizes from the outset, and those who can already solve the 3x3 and want to make the jump to bigger cubes. They’re entry-level cubes: good for learning and training, and later on you can move up to high-end models.
