YuXin

YuXin (裕鑫) is a Chinese manufacturer of speed cubes and twisty puzzles. It is known for its budget YuXin Little Magic 3x3 and for a very wide range of shape mods. In our shop you will mostly find that fun side of the catalogue: animals and balls hiding a 2x2, keychains, a mini 3x3 and a Pyraminx, as well as the magnetic Little Magic.

YuXin in speedcubing

On 25 April 2015, American cuber Collin Burns solved a 3x3 in 5.25 seconds in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, with a YuXin 3x3. It was the world record until November that year. You will find the full story in our article on Rubik's Cube world records.

The Little Magic is the brand's budget line and one of the most recommended 3x3 cubes for beginners. We stock the Little Magic 3x3 magnetic with UV coating: 55.5 mm, about 78 g and medium-strength magnets.

YuXin shape mods: a 2x2 in another shape

Animals

The mouse, the cow and the penguin are a 2x2 inside. When you scramble them the figure falls apart, and solving them means putting the pieces back until it appears again.

How do you solve a 2x2 shape mod?

With the same moves as a 2x2. The difference is that instead of colours you follow the picture or the shape, and it is harder to see which piece goes where.

Are the balls harder than the animals?

Usually a little. On the mouse or the penguin the figure quickly tells you where each piece goes; the balls are spheres and you only have the lines of the pattern to go by, so there are fewer clues. The mechanism is the same 2x2 in all of them.

Is the Little Magic a good first cube?
