Disney Playing Cards: Guide to Bicycle Disney Decks
Disney playing cards by Bicycle: Mickey Mouse, Princess, Villains, Toy Story, The Lion King, Stitch and Disney 100. What each deck has and which to gift.
In short
Most Disney playing cards you find in shops today are Bicycle decks with an official Disney licence, made by the United States Playing Card Company (USPCC). They are complete poker decks with 52 cards and two jokers, where Disney characters appear on the court cards, the aces, the jokers, the back design and the tuck box.
- Collections: Mickey Mouse and friends, Princesses, Villains, Toy Story, The Lion King, Stitch and the Disney 100th anniversary edition.
- What they are for: playing any game that uses a standard 52-card deck, giving as a gift and collecting.
- How to choose: go by the favourite character or film of the person who will use it; they all share the poker size and Bicycle's Air Cushion finish.
A Disney deck of cards is an ordinary deck in which Mickey plays the king, a princess takes the place of the queen or Scar appears on a court card. You can play solitaire, rummy or poker with it, and at the same time it works as a keepsake of a film. In this guide we go through the Bicycle Disney playing cards we stock, what each one includes, how to choose between them and who each collection suits.
What are Bicycle Disney playing cards?
Bicycle is the playing card brand of the United States Playing Card Company, an American printer that has been making cards since the late 19th century and has belonged to the Belgian group Cartamundi since 2019. Alongside its classic backs, such as the Rider Back, Bicycle publishes licensed themed decks, and Disney is one of the licences with the most titles in its catalogue.
An officially licensed deck means the design is authorised by the owner of the characters. In practice, the artwork either comes from the films or was created specifically for the deck with Disney's approval, and the box carries the official logos.
How the current collection began
The Walt Disney Company was founded in October 1923, and to celebrate its centenary Bicycle launched five Disney deck collections in 2023: Mickey Mouse in black and gold, Princesses (in pink and in blue), Villains (in green and in purple), the 100th anniversary deck and Classic Mickey Mouse. The first to come out was the black and gold Mickey, and the rest were released over the summer and autumn of that year.
In 2024 the brand extended the line with six more decks, devoted to Stitch, The Lion King, Moana, Alice in Wonderland, Frozen and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Other editions such as Toy Story or Mickey & Friends join them. That is why today we can talk about a Bicycle Disney collection with a shared look: poker size, cards from the same printer and characters on the court cards.

The collections, one by one
They all share the same structure, so what really sets one Disney deck apart from another is which characters appear, where they appear and what the box looks like. These are the ones we stock.
Mickey Mouse playing cards: Mickey and friends
Mickey is the character with the most decks in our selection. He made his screen debut on 18 November 1928 in the short Steamboat Willie, and several of these decks bring back the style of those early cartoons.
- Bicycle Mickey Mouse: all four aces show Mickey; Mickey takes the jacks and kings and Minnie the queens. The two jokers are original, one with Mickey and one with Minnie, in a vintage style, and some number cards have small images of the characters next to the suits. Red and black palette and a box with embossed areas.
- Bicycle Disney Classic Mickey Mouse red: Mickey at his most classic, with elements of the character hidden throughout the deck to discover card by card. Red back.
- Bicycle Disney Mickey & Friends: the court cards go to the six classic characters Disney calls the Sensational Six: Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto. Exclusive back and a cheerful, colourful style.
- Bicycle Disney Mickey Mouse black and gold: the premium version, with gold Metalluxe foil backs, Mickey and Minnie court cards, Mickey's silhouette hidden on every card and a box with gold foil and embossing. Currently out of stock.
Disney Princess playing cards
The princess deck came out in 2023 in two colours, pink and navy blue. The court cards were drawn for this edition and feature princesses such as Snow White, Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Aurora, Jasmine, Mulan, Rapunzel, Tiana, Merida and Moana. The front of the box shows the Disney castle in gold and holographic foil.
- Bicycle Disney Princess blue: the more understated version, with the whole deck built around navy blue.
- Bicycle Disney Princess pink: twelve different princesses on the court cards and jokers, an exclusive back and a castle with foil and embossing on the box. Currently out of stock.
Disney Villains playing cards
The villains deck also came out in two colours, green and purple. The twelve court cards (jacks, queens and kings of all four suits) show twelve different villains, one per card. The front of the box features four of the best known, including Maleficent, Scar, Cruella de Vil and Hades, with details in silver foil and in the colour of each version.
- Bicycle Disney Villains green: box with silver and green foil, custom back and Air Cushion finish.
- Bicycle Disney Villains purple: the same idea with silver and purple foil. Currently out of stock.
Toy Story playing cards (Disney Pixar)
The Bicycle Toy Story deck is officially licensed by Disney Pixar and is presented as a tribute to the saga, which in 2025 marked thirty years since the first film was released. The back reproduces the pattern of the quilt on Andy's bed, and the jacks, queens and kings are illustrated with characters such as Woody and Buzz Lightyear.
The Lion King playing cards
The Bicycle Disney Lion King is one of the decks Bicycle added in 2024. You can spot it by its warm savannah sunset tones and by the cold foil (a metallic layer applied without heat, which allows fine detail) on the box, the faces, the back and the suit symbols. The court cards are dedicated to the lions of Pride Rock and other characters, such as Simba, Nala, Mufasa, Scar, Timon and Pumbaa, and the Ace of Spades carries the motto Hakuna Matata.
Stitch playing cards
The Bicycle Stitch deck is devoted to Experiment 626 from Lilo & Stitch and to Angel, his companion. On the box, Stitch appears to be bursting out of it. The court cards were drawn specifically for this deck and feature Stitch and Angel, and on the number cards the two characters play with the suit symbols, so the theme carries through the whole deck. It is made at the USPCC plant in Erlanger (Kentucky).
Disney 100 playing cards: the 100th anniversary deck
The Bicycle Disney 100th Anniversary is the official edition for Disney's centenary, from 2023. It brings together more than twenty characters from different eras of Disney and Pixar, from Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck to Woody, Olaf or Stitch, with nostalgic-style illustrations. Mickey takes centre stage on the box, which combines silver and white holographic foil with embossing, and the backs are printed with cold foil. It is currently out of stock, but we keep it here because it gathers a hundred years of Disney characters in a single deck.

Which Disney deck of cards to give as a gift
A Disney deck of cards is a small gift that works best when it connects with the recipient's favourite film. These pointers help you decide.

Decks with characters they recognise straight away and with artwork on the number cards too work well, because they make the game more fun.

See themed decksFamily card games to play with a Disney deck
Bicycle Disney decks are complete standard 52-card decks, so they work for any game played with a poker deck. With children, the characters on the court cards help them recognise the important cards. Some ideas:
- For the youngest: pairs (memory), war or old maid. You will find simple rules in card games for kids.
- For three to six players: President, Cheat or Hearts.
- For two: gin rummy and others we cover in two-player card games.
- On your own: classic solitaire.
- With two decks: Continental rummy or Canasta, where the two-colour versions come in handy.
If you want more, our list of card games sorts them by number of players, and card games with a poker deck covers the best known.
Marvel and Star Wars are Disney too
Disney bought Pixar in 2006, Marvel Entertainment in 2009 and Lucasfilm, the studio behind Star Wars, in 2012. That is why many superhero and Star Wars decks also carry the Disney licence, even though Bicycle does not publish them: they come from brands such as theory11 or Card Mafia.
- theory11 The Mandalorian: published with Disney and Lucasfilm, with Din Djarin, Cara Dune or Grogu on the cards and the Mandalorian's helmet embossed on the case.
- theory11 Star Wars Year of the Dark Side: devoted to the saga's villains, such as Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Count Dooku or Palpatine. Currently out of stock.
- theory11 Spider-Man: devoted to the Marvel Studios trilogy that began with Homecoming, with a box inspired by the Iron Spider suit.
- Card Mafia Iron Man MK1: magnetic box in which the Arc reactor lights up with an LED when you open it; cards printed by the USPCC.
- Card Mafia Thor: box with embossed Asgardian armour and a blue LED light that illuminates Mjolnir.
All licensed decks, from Disney and other brands, are in themed and licensed playing cards.
How to look after a Disney deck
A Disney deck needs the same care as any paper deck, with a couple of extra details if it has foil or you want to keep it in good condition.
- Keep it in its box: on these decks the box is part of the design, with embossing and foil that mark easily.
- Clean, dry hands: grease and moisture dull the colours and make the cards stick together.
- Away from sun and heat: direct light fades inks and foil, and heat bends the cards.
- Extra care with foil decks: on decks such as the black and gold Mickey, the foil on the backs loses its shine with handling. If you want it for regular play, choose one without foil on the cards.
- If it is for a collection: keep the seal intact or buy two, one to open and one to keep.
How much does a deck of cards cost?
From €5 to over €100. The 52 cards and the rules stay the same; this is what changes.
