Playing cards online: the most complete catalog in Europe

At The Joker House we stock the most relevant playing cards on the world market — over 1,100 references covering classic decks for game night, decks for magic and cardistry, premium foiled editions and numbered collector decks. We work directly with the main publishing houses (USPCC, Cartamundi, Theory11, Kings Wild Project, Fontaine, NOC) and with independent artists releasing through Kickstarter, to bring you one of the broadest online playing cards stores in Spain and Europe.

If you came here looking to buy playing cards online, you'll find both the classic Bicycle deck (the one you'll see at any amateur poker table) and limited editions with gilded edges, magic decks with trick cards (gaff decks) and artistic decks you won't easily find in general stores. All shipped in 24–72 h within mainland Spain and Portugal, with personal customer support from people who use cards every day.

Types of playing cards by use

There's no such thing as "the best deck" in the abstract — there's the best deck for your use. Each discipline calls for a different size, paper finish and design.

  • Poker decks: poker size (63×88 mm), durable paper with air-cushion or cambric finish, ideal for long sessions at home or in casino. Bicycle, Tally-Ho, Bee and Fournier are the household names.
  • Magic decks: decks for cartomagic, gaff decks, marked decks (back-coded for mentalism), Svengali and Stripper trick decks, and signature decks by magicians like Daniel Madison, Shin Lim or Dynamo.
  • Cardistry decks: symmetrical backs so any flourish looks clean from any angle, paper printed on cardistry stock that slides better, borderless prints designed for video. Virtuoso, Fontaine, NOC and Card Mafia lead this niche.
  • Premium decks: luxury editions with finishes you won't find on standard decks — metallic foiling, embossing, gilded edges, tuck boxes with laser cutouts and printing on the inside.
  • Collectible decks: limited print runs, hand-numbered editions, signed decks and out-of-print runs that won't be reprinted. For collectors and people who enjoy investing in rare decks.

How to choose your first deck (or your next one)

If you've never bought anything beyond a basic supermarket deck, these three criteria will save you time:

  1. Define your main use. Playing card games with friends? A red or blue Bicycle Rider Back is perfect. Want to learn magic? Same answer. Want to practice cuts and flourishes (cardistry)? Get a Virtuoso or Fontaine. Collecting? Look for limited print runs by recognized artists.
  2. Check the paper finish. Air-cushion (Bicycle) is the standard for play. Magic Finish (Theory11) is best for magic and cardistry because it allows a perfect faro. Cardistry stock (Fontaine, NOC) is purpose-built for extreme handling.
  3. Brand and price. Major brands (Bicycle, Bee, Tally-Ho) offer quality and prices between €4–9. Premium brands (Theory11, Kings Wild Project) sit at €12–20. Limited and collectible editions can exceed €50.

Sizes and formats: poker vs bridge

The poker size measures 63×88 mm. It is the universal size for modern playing cards and the one used in Texas Hold'em, blackjack, magic, cardistry — pretty much everything. The bridge size is slightly narrower (57×88 mm) and is reserved for classic bridge. If in doubt, always go for poker size: it's the worldwide standard.

Frequently asked questions about playing cards

Which deck is best for starting in card magic?

The Bicycle Rider Back, red or blue. It's the absolute standard — practically every cartomagic manual (from Royal Road to Card Magic to Card College) is written assuming this deck. €4–6, lasts hours of play and you'll always find it in stock.

What's the difference between a premium deck and a regular one?

A premium deck combines better materials (310 gsm or thicker paper with magic or cardistry stock), thoughtful design (original artwork by an identifiable artist) and tuck box finishes (foiling, embossing, hot stamping). A premium deck typically costs €12–20; a basic playing deck €4–8.

How long does a deck of cards last?

A paper Bicycle survives roughly 3–6 hours of intense play before the corners start to bend. A plastic deck (Bicycle Prestige, Copag, KEM) can last 50–100 times longer. Pro magicians typically rotate decks every 2–3 shows to keep the feel perfect.

Which deck is used for cardistry?

To start, a Virtuoso, a Fontaine or a NOC Original. These three have the handling, the symmetric back and the price you want while learning the basic moves. Once you've nailed the basics, you can move on to more expensive editions.

What is a marked deck?

A marked deck has an invisible (or very subtle) code on the back of every card showing its value and suit. The magician reads it by touch or sight from a meter or more away. They're sold openly as professional material for stage magic and mentalism, not for cheating in games of chance.

Do you ship to the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla?

Yes. We ship to mainland, Balearics, Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla. For the latter we handle the customs paperwork (DUA) and apply the correct tax (no peninsular VAT). Lead times are slightly longer but the service is full.
